She is an engineering and architecture student, 22 years old, and one of many women that are leading Sudanese protests against the president that has been in office for over 30 years. I’ve had gender confirmation surgery as well as a breast augmentation and this is the final surgery I need to feel complete. I still get misgendered daily, harassed, and treated with outright disrespect because I’m not able to pass. People still perceive me as a man because of my facial features and my deeper voice and I’m sick of it. It’s gotten to the point where I no longer feel safe or comfortable presenting as female in public spaces and usually just present as male.
